CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Villanova concluded the 2008-09 season this weekend at the Cavalier Classic, hosted by the University of Virginia at Birdwood Golf Course. The Wildcats placed 16th out of 18 teams in the field when the tournament's first round scores from Saturday became the final results due to Sunday's second round not being completed. A long weather delay on Sunday afternoon left too little time for the round to be completed.

Sophomore Brendan Kelly (Annapolis, Md.) wrapped up his strong inaugural season for Villanova with a 28th place finish out of 100 golfers and was the team medalist for the eighth time in 10 starts. Kelly carded a two-over par 74 on the par-72 format, which measured 6,875 yards for the tournament. He was the lone Wildcat individual to finish in the top half of the field.

Senior Doug Stadler (Wexford, Pa.) tied for 59th with a score of 77 in the final tournament of his Villanova career. The team co-captain leads all active players on the roster in career rounds played. Freshmen Eddie Ryan (Winchester, Mass.) and Brian Colbert (Cary, Ill.) finished in a tie for 80th and 84th places, respectively. Ryan carded a round of 80 and Colbert an 81.

The Wildcats drop score came from senior Andrew Alexander (Rochester, Minn.), who finished with a score of 91.
