Skurla One Shot Off the Pace with One Round Remaining

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Villanova junior Steve Skurla sits in a tie for third place at the Navy Spring Invitational after one round of play at the par-71, 6,588-yard Naval Academy Golf Course in Annapolis, Maryland. The junior shot a 37-34--71 (E) and sits just one shot behind Georgetown's Brian Dorfman and George Washington's Taylor Fuqua with 18 holes remaining on Sunday.

As a team, the Wildcats are in 5th place after a 295 (+11) which puts them four shots back of first place George Washington.

Senior Brian Colbert shot a 73 (+2) and is in a tie for 12th place just three shots back of the leader. Junior Michael Kania is not far behind either after an opening 74 (+3) puts him in a tie for 24th in the tightly bunched field.

Junior Derek Jones and senior Bret McGaughey each shot a 77 (+6) which puts them in a tie for 58th in the 111-player field.

The weather could be a factor on Sunday with rain and cold temperatures moving in, but the Wildcats hope to get the round in and climb the leaderboard.
