HAMBURG, N.J. - Following the final day of action at the FDU Invitational in Hamburg, N.J., the Villanova Wildcats moved up one spot from their first round and finished in 6th place out of 14 teams for the two-day event held at Crystal Springs Golf Club.
Senior Robby Meador (Miami Lakes, Fla.) led the team and finished tied for 5th place following a round of 78 (+7) on Monday afternoon for a two-day total of 152. It marks the highest finish for the senior in 2013-14.
Luke Waggoner (Crystal Lake, Ill.) improved by three strokes and carded a second-round score of 77 (+6) to place tied for 13th place overall in the individual standings. Lucas Trim (Tampa, Fla.) following closely behind and posted a 78 (+7) to place tied for 36th, while Peter Mandich (Naperville, Ill.) and Scott Miller (Madison, N.J.) rounded out the Villanova team scoring with rounds of 81 and 82, respectively, to finish tied for 36th and 65th places.
Binghamton continued their dominance and won the team title with a combined score of 612 and finished four strokes ahead of the hosts for the win. FDU, Central
Connecticut, Towson and St. Peter's rounded out the top-five squad finishes while CCSU's Matt DeJohn (+4) claimed the individual title with a 146 (75-71) for the event and also finished four strokes ahead of his nearest competitor in Joe Gunerman of Towson.
Conditions on the day were difficult for all participants with consistent winds of 15-25 mile per hour winds with gusts above 30 miles per hour.
Villanova will return to action for their last event of the season at the BIG EAST Championship set to take place April 27th-29th in Okatie, S.C.
