ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Junior Steve Arnold (Langhorne, Pa.) was one under par for the day with a score of 70 and Villanova currently sits in third place out of 15 teams at the Navy Spring Invitational. The Wildcats are just three strokes off the team lead heading into the final 18 holes on Saturday.

Arnold led all 85 players in the field with six birdies in his round on Friday, and Villanova led the teams with 17 birdies for the day. Arnold is in third place individually, while senior captain Jonathan Hewett (Sioux Falls, S.D.) is also in the top-10. Hewett shot a 72 and is tied for seventh place.

Freshman Doug Stadler (Wexford, Pa.) marked four birdies in his round to tie for 31st place with classmate Andrew Alexander (Rochester, Minn.). Both players carded a 75 as the Wildcats turned in their lowest team score of the spring season and seventh best overall in 2005-06.

Host Navy saw its Gold team produce a round of 289 to lead the field at the midpoint of the tournament. George Washington is in second place with a score of 290. Erich Schoen of Navy registered a round of five-under-par 66 and leads the individual standings.
