MALVERN, Pa. - The Villanova golf team concluded the Wildcat Invitational in 11th place out of 16 squads following the third and final round of play at White Manor Country Club in Malvern, Pa. Columbia took home the top team honor while Drexel's Christopher Crawford nabbed the individual championship.
After Monday's second round was cut short due to darkness, Villanova was one of five teams alongside Youngstown State, Drexel, Butler and Lehigh that finished that round on Tuesday morning. The third and final round commenced following the finish of round two.
The Wildcats were led by Luke Waggoner, who carded rounds of 79-76-74 to finish with a 229 for the invitational and at +16 for the event tied for 26th place. Lucas Trim was the second place finisher for Villanova with a total score of 232 (82-76-74). Peter Mandich, Robby Meador and Ted Brennan rounded out the top-five for Villanova tied for 46th, 52nd and in 89th places, respectively. As a team, the `Cats carded a total of 925 for the event.
Columbia took home the top team honor while Army, Binghamton, Youngstown State, Rhode Island and Delaware rounded out the top five. Drexel, La Salle, Butler, Wagner, Villanova, Lehigh, Monmouth, Fordham, Manhattan and Bucknell rounded out the top 16.
Drexel's Christopher Crawford nabbed the top individual honor, notching rounds of 70-68-74--212 (-1) for the event.
Villanova will return to action in just a few short days when they head to the Lafayette Invitational on April 5th-7th in Easton, Pa.
