Darkness Cuts Round Two of Wildcat Invitational Short; Play Concludes Tuesday

MALVERN, Pa. - Despite round two of play being cut short due to darkness, the first day of competition at the Wildcat Invitational held at White Manor Country Club was a success and Villanova is currently in 11th place in the team competition following the first full round of action.

Five teams including Youngstown State, Drexel, Butler, Lehigh and Villanova will conclude round two Tuesday morning before teeing off for the third and final 18 holes of play to determine a team and individual champion.

Robby Meador and Luke Waggoner lead the way for Villanova tied for 30th place overall after round one scores of 79. Peter Mandich (79), Lucas Trim (82) and Ted Brennan (78) follow closely behind tied for 43rd, 51st and 65 places, respectively, after the first 18 holes of play. All five Wildcats will return to the links tomorrow morning to finish their second rounds which were cut short due to darkness.

Competing as individuals, Scott Miller and Vince Boyle carded first round scores of 83 and 82 and will also finish their second round of play tomorrow morning before action concludes. They are currently in 68th and 84th place, respectively.

Youngstown State currently leads the team competition but will also have to finish their second round of play Tuesday morning. Columbia currently has the clubhouse lead with a team score of 608 followed by Army and Drexel tied for third.

The Wildcat Invitational will conclude on Tuesday. Admission is free and spectators are encouraged to attend.
