Pinehurst Intercollegiate Day One Results

PINEHURST, N.C. - At the end of the first day of competition of the Pinehurst Intercollegiate in Pinehurst, N.C., the Villanova Wildcats are tied for second place overall in the team competition in the 16 team field. Villanova finished with a total score of 291 (+7) at the par-71, 6,832 course of Pinehurst No. 6 after day one in the three-day tournament.

Senior co-captain Steve Skurla (Wheaton, Ill.) leads the team tied for 9th place overall after finishing round one at an even par 71.

Ted Brennan, Michael Kania, Derek Jones and Vince Boyle round out the Villanova scorers finishing tied for 12th, 19th, 37th, and 65th place overall with rounds of 72, 73, 75 and 78, respectively.

Old Dominion currently leads the team field after finishing the day with a team total of 286 (+2). VCU, UNCG and Ball State round out the top five teams on the day. Marshall's Nathan Kerns leads the field of individuals finishing at three under par with a 68. UNCG's Taylor Coalson and VCU's Jake McNulty are tied for second place at two-under with rounds of 69.

The Wildcats will look to improve their team and individual standings with two more days of competition at Pinehurst.
