FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Villanova golf team wrapped up the final day of play at the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate. The team placed 14th in the field shooting rounds of 301-301-302=904 (+40). The team returns to action on Friday when they face Coastal Georgia in a one on one matchup.
Austin Peay won the tournament after shooting rounds of 284-299-280= 863 (-1). Austin Peay is followed by Toledo, Florida Gulf Coast, host Loyola Maryland, Boston College, Florida Atlantic, Connecticut, Hartford, Old Dominion, Drexel, Davidson, St. Bonaventure, St. John’s, and Villanova.
Senior Andy Butler lead the team in scoring as he placed tied for 30th overall after carding rounds of 73-75-74 = 222 (+6). Freshman Reb Banas was not that far behind as he placed tied for 50th overall after scoring rounds of 73-76-77 = 226 (+10). Right behind him were senior Zach Egermayer and sophomore captain Connor Daly who both finished tied for 57th place overall. Egermayer shot rounds of 74-78-75 = 227 (+11) while Daly carded rounds of 76-74-77 = 227 (+11).
Freshman Matt Barnes finished his day tied for 62nd place after carding rounds of 78-74-76= 228 (+12) while senior Will Byrne placed tied for 70th after scoring rounds of 75-77-78 =230 (+14). Senior Andrew MacMillan remained in 86th place as his final score card recorded rounds of 81-83-83 =247 (+31).
