Wildcats Place 5th in Harmony Golf Preserve Intercollegiate

HARMONY, Fla. - The Villanova golf team returned to action this week during spring break at the Harmony Golf Preserve Intercollegiate in Harmony, Fla. and placed fifth in the three-round invitational with a team score of 894.
The Wildcats opened the two-day outing with their best combined round score of 293 in round one and followed that performance with a 304 and 297, respectively, to conclude the invitational for their second and third rounds of play. Junior Ted Brennan (Newtown Square, Pa.) led the squad with a 10th place individual finish after carding rounds of 71-74-74 (219) while sophomore Luke Waggoner (Crystal Lake, Ill.) followed in 19th place with rounds of 74-74-77 (225).
Freshman Peter Mandich (Naperville, Ill.) posted a third place team finish and tied for 22nd place overall with a three round total of 227 (78-76-73) while classmate Lucas Trim (Tampa, Fla.) (70-81-78--229), senior Robby Meador (Miami Lakes, Fla.) (78-80-75--233) and senior Vince Boyle (80-80-75--235) rounded out the team scoring for the Wildcats in 25th, 29th and 30th place overall, respectively. Junior Scott Miller (Madison, N.J.) competed as an individual and finished in 31st place after carding rounds of 84-85-94--263.
Florida Gulf Coast and Northwood University of Florida tied for first place in the team competition with a total score of 854, while Florida Atlantic (871), Stetson (877) and Villanova (894) rounded out the team finishes for the three-round competition. FAU's Derron Peyton took home the top individual honor with a total score of 207 (71-68-68).
The Wildcats will take on Milwaukee's School of Engineering in a dual-match at PGA Village in Port St. Lucie on Wednesday to continue their spring break competitions. Following a day off on Thursday the Wildcats will conclude the week at the Wilmington Island Club in Savannah, Ga. on Friday.
