Wildcats Named to Atlantic 10 Academic Team

VILLANOVA, PA. -- The Atlantic 10 Football Conference has recognized 53 student-athletes as members of the league's Academic All-Conference team. Of the 53 honorees, seven are members of the 1998 Villanova Wildcat squad that finished the season with a 6-5 overall record.
"We are very proud of the seven Villanova student-athletes who have been named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team," said Villanova head coach Andy Talley. "It is great to see that these seven individuals were rewarded for their hard work both on the gridiron and more importantly in the classroom."
Three student-athletes from the Villanova offense were honored including wide receiver Conor Kinsella (Sophomore/Blue Bell, Pa.), tight end Jay Strippoli (Senior/ Toms River, N.J.) and running back Brian Westbrook (Sophomore/ Ft. Washington. Md.)
Defensively, two Wildcat defensive backs and two Villanova linebackers were named to the team. Middle linebacker Stephen Curry (Senior/ Maynard, Mass) and outside linebacker Chris Janik (Junior/New Lenox, Ill) were cited for their excellence in the classroom, along with cornerback Hezekiah Lewis (Junior/San Bernardino, Calif.) and strong safety Matt Reiter (Sophomore/New Lenox, Ill.).
