Greg Miller Named a First Team All-American
Dec. 18, 2008
VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova University senior defensive end Greg Miller has been named a first Team FCS All-American by both the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and the Walter Camp Foundation. Miller, who is a 6-3, 250 pound native of Willow Grove, Pa, becomes the 24th Wildcat in program history to earn first team All-American distinction.
"I am very happy for Greg. He truly deserves these honors," said veteran Wildcat head coach Andy Talley. "Greg had a terrific year and was one of the big reasons behind our defensive success. He also did a great job serving as one of our team captains."
Miller was co-captain of the 2008 Wildcat squad that went 10-3 overall and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the FCS playoffs. Miller started all 13 games this past season and tallied 49 total tackles (34 solo/15 assisted), a team-high tying 15 tackles for loss, six quarterback sacks and two forced fumbles.
His best game of the season came in a 26-20 upset of then No. 1 Richmond when he recorded eight tackles, 2.5 quarterback sacks, 5.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble. For his efforts during the season, Miller was named to the Buck Buchanan Award Watch List. The Buchanan Award is given to the top defensive player in FCS football.
