Angelo Babbaro Named First Team Academic All-District

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova senior running back Angelo Babbaro has been named to the 2010 ESPN District 2 All-Academic Team. This is the second straight year that Babbaro has earned this honor. He will now be a candidate for the ESPN Academic All-American Division honors.
The All-Academic District 2 team is comprised of NCAA Division I football players at both the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) and the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) levels. To be eligible for the team, the student-athlete must carry a 3.330 cumulative GPA. District 2 includes all schools in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia.
Babbaro graduated in May, 2010, with an Economics Degree and is currently enrolled in Villanova's Human Resource Development graduate school program. Last spring, he was named the 2009-10 Villanova Male Student-Athlete of the Year.
After nine games in 2010, Babbaro leads Villanova in all-purpose yards with 857. He also leads the team in kickoff return yardage with 353 (22.0 per return) and ranks third on the team in rushing with 70 carries for 308 yards and four touchdowns and fourth in receiving with 17 catches for 197 yards and two scores.
Babbaro and the No. 9 Wildcats return to action on Saturday, Nov. 13, when they host No. 17 New Hampshire. Kickoff at Villanova Stadium is set for noon.
