RICHMOND, Va.--For the second time in three weeks, Villanova senior quarterback Chris Whitney has been named CAA Offensive Player of the Week. Whitney earns the honor for his efforts in last Saturday's 28-7 win over Richmond.
In the victory, Whitney tallied 11 carries for 116 yards and one touchdown to go with 9-of-16 passing for 78 yards and two scores. His touchdown run came on a 45-yard scamper in the first quarter and 102 of his 116 rushing yards came during the first quarter. This represents his sixth career 100-yard rushing performance.
After eight games, Whitney has completed 106-of-157 (67.5%) for 1,326 yards to go with 15 touchdowns and four interceptions. In addition, he has 87 rushes for 489 yards and seven touchdowns. Whitney currently leads the CAA and ranks fourth nationally in pass efficiency at 164.89.
Whitney and the Wildcats return to action on Saturday, Nov. 6, when they travel to Kingston, R.I., to take on the Rhode Island Rams. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
