Robertson Named to the Jerry Rice Award Watch List
Oct. 10, 2012
The Sports Network announced its initial Watch List for the 2012 Jerry Rice Award. Villanova redshirt freshman quarterback John Robertson is one of 16 players on the list. The award is given to the most outstanding freshman in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).
Robertson is a big reason behind Villanova's 4-2 start. After starting the season as the back-up, Robertson made his first start in week two and is 4-1 as the team's starting signal caller. He has been named the CAA Rookie of the Week in three of the last five weeks.
After six games, Robertson has completed 79-of-135 passes for 1,033 yards to go with five touchdowns and four interceptions. He has also rushed 80 times for 438 yards (5.5 avg.) and five scores.
Robertson and the Wildcats return to action on Saturday, Oct. 13, when they visit Old Dominion. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
