RICHMOND, Va. - Villanova University junior wide receiver Matt Szczur has been named the CAA Special Teams Player of the Week.

In No. 2 Villanova's 14-3 win at Penn on Saturday, Sept. 19, Szczur returned the opening kickoff 87 yards for a touchdown. This was his second career kick return for a score. Last year against Colgate in the NCAA playoffs, Szczur returned the opening kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown.

Szczur finished the Penn game with 114 yards of all-purpose offense. After three games this season, Szczur ranks second on the team in both rushing and receiving. He currently has 135 yards rushing on 15 carries (9.0 yards per carry) and eight receptions for 66 yards. He is also averaging a team-best 141.0 all-purpose yards per game and 37.0 yards per kickoff return.

Villanova returns to action on Sept. 26 when the Wildcats play host to Northeastern in the team's CAA opener. Kickoff at Villanova Stadium is set for 3:30 p.m.
