RICHMOND, Va. - Two members of the Villanova Wildcats earned player of the week accolades from the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). Senior wide receiver Brandyn Harvey (Spring Valley, Calif.) was named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week, while redshirt freshman kicker Nick Yako (Cleveland, Ohio) garnered CAA Special Teams Player of the Week distinction.
In his team's 27-24 win over Temple, Harvey made a career-high nine receptions for a career-best 142 yards and one touchdown. His six-yard touchdown catch tied the game at 24-24 with 1:24 to play. Eight of Harvey's nine catches and 132 of his 142 receiving yards came in the second half.
Yako turned in a flawless performance in his first collegiate game. He went two-of-two in field goal attempts and three-for-three in PATs. His 32-yard field goal came as time expired to give the Wildcats a thrilling 27-24 comeback win over Temple. His first career field goal came on a 27-yard effort early in the fourth quarter.
Villanova returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 12 when the Wildcats take on Lehigh in the 2009 home opener. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
