Wildcats Ranked No. 5 in Sports Network Preseason Poll

Aug 20, 2013

VILLANOVA, Pa. - In the preseason poll released by the Sports Network last week Villanova is the highest ranked of six CAA Football teams in the top 25, as the Wildcats come in with a No. 5 preseason ranking. Villanova was picked last month as the preseason favorite to finish atop the CAA standings at the league's annual media day.

Villanova is coming off a 2012 season in which it went 8-4 and earned the automatic bid from the CAA to the FCS playoffs. It marked the fourth time in the last five years that the Wildcats reached the postseason. Villanova returns 16 starters from last season's playoff squad and was picked as the preseason favorite finish atop the CAA standings.

The other CAA teams ranked in the preseason poll are New Hampshire (No. 10), Towson (No. 11), Richmond (No. 15), Stony Brook (No. 16) and James Madison (No. 19).

Preseason camp is in full swing for the Wildcats, who will open the 2013 season at Boston College on August 31. The season opener kicks off at Noon and will be televised live on ESPNEWS.
