Villanova Ranked No. 12 to Start the Season

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Sports Network today announced its 2014 preseason FCS Top 25. Villanova earned 2,072 points and will begin the season ranked No. 12. The Wildcats return 33 letterwinners and 15 starters from last year's team that went 6-5 overall and 5-3 in CAA play.

Villanova is one of six CAA teams to be ranked in the poll. New Hampshire leads the way for the league at No. 4 followed by Villanova at No. 12, Towson at No. 13, William & Mary at No. 19, Richmond at No. 20 and Maine at No. 25.

Eastern Washington earned the top spot with 3,589 points.

The Wildcats open the season on Friday, August 29, against Syracuse at the Carrier Dome. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
