VILLANOVA, Pa. - As preseason coverage of the 2013 season continues Villanova has been ranked No. 9 in the FCS Coaches' Preseason Poll, which was released on Thursday afternoon. A total of six CAA teams are ranked in the top 25 of the season's first national poll.

Villanova is coming off a 2012 season in which it went 8-4 and earned the automatic bid from the CAA to the FCS playoffs. It marked the fourth time in the last five years that the Wildcats reached the postseason. Villanova returns 16 starters from last season's playoff squad and was picked as the preseason favorite finish atop the CAA standings.

The other CAA teams ranked in the preseason poll are New Hampshire (No. 8), Towson (No. 12), Stony Brook (No. 13), Richmond (No. 14) and James Madison (No. 15). A seventh team, Delaware, was among the top five other teams receiving votes.

Preseason camp opened earlier this week for the Wildcats, who will open the 2013 season at Boston College on August 31. The season opener kicks off at Noon and will be televised live on ESPNEWS.
