  • Since the start of the 2007 season the Wildcats are 14-7 (.667) against teams that are ranked in the top 10 of the weekly Sports Network Top 25 poll. Villanova defeated a top-five team on the road for the second straight year, matching the effort from a 38-14 win at No. 3 Old Dominion last season.
  • Sophomore quarterback John Robertson completed his first 17 passes of the game. He came within four completions of matching the school record for consecutive passes. The school record of 21 straight passes is held by Kirk Schulz and was set on October 10, 1987. Robertson also was within striking distance of the FCS record for consecutive completions to begin a game. The record of 20 in that category was accomplished by Austin Moherman of Missouri State in 2000 and matched by Kyle Slager of Brown in 2002.
  • Robertson continues to move up on several of the Wildcats all-time career lists. With his efforts against Towson, Robertson is now seventh all-time at Villanova in total offense (4,644), eighth in rushing touchdowns (23) and ninth in passing yards (3,029).
  • The 32 carries for Robertson are the most by any Wildcats player since Matt Dicken ran the ball 35 times at Massachusetts on October 13, 2007. As a team Villanova attempted 65 rushes, its second-highest total in the past 11 years and just two fewer attempts than in a 38-14 win at Old Dominion last season.
  • Robertson has six career games with at least 100 rushing yards, including three this season. As a team the Wildcats ran for over 200 yards for the third time this season.
  • Villanova scored 21 points in the first quarter, matching its highest scoring quarter of the season (21 in the second quarter against Stony Brook on September 21) and was the highest scoring first period for the Wildcats since the team had 21 in the first quarter at Towson on November 14, 2009.
  • Senior kicker Mark Hamilton went 6-of-6 on extra points and also kicked a field goal to finish the game with nine points. He moved into ninth place in school history with 197 career points. Hamilton is 4-of-4 on field goal tries this season and 29-of-37 in his career.
  • The 80-yard touchdown pass by Towson quarterback Peter Athens in the first quarter matches the longest touchdown pass allowed by Villanova since October 15, 2011 when James Madison quarterback Jace Edwards connected for an 80-yard pass to Kerby Long.
  • Prior to tonight's game the last Wildcats opponent to return a kickoff for a touchdown was Michael Johnson of Delaware last season. He returned a kickoff 94 yards for a score on November 17, 2012 in a 41-10 Villanova victory.
