Villanova defeated Lehigh in its home opener for the second consecutive season. The Wildcats defeated the Mountain Hawks last season at Villanova Stadium by a 33-14 count. Overall, Villanova is 2-1 against Lehigh in home openers, with the loss coming in 2006 (31-28).

Since the Wildcats became a Football Championship Subdivision team in 1985, they have gone 22-3 against Patriot League opponents, including 5-1 against Lehigh.

Under head coach Andy Talley, Villanova improved to 19-6 (.760) in home openers.

Villanova tallied over 300 yards rushing for just the fourth time in the last 11 years, but the third time in their last five games dating back to late in the 2008 season. The Wildcats tallied 310 rushing yards in tonight's win over Lehigh. The team's four 300-yard rushing games since 1999 are:

Last season's win over Delaware was the most recent occasion on which two different Villanova players ran for over 100 yards in a game. In that game, Chris Whitney accumulated 102 yards on the ground and Aaron Ball ran for 105 yards. The contest was also the only previous 100-yard rushing game for Whitney prior to tonight's game.
