CAA Football Television Package Announced; Kickoff Times Released
CAA Football has announced an extensive 30-game television package for the 2016 season, which includes 18 conference matchups in conjunction with the league's broadcast partners, NBC Sports Regional Networks and the American Sports Network. In addition to the conference package, at least 10 non-conference contests featuring CAA Football teams will air nationally on ESPN3. Villanova will appear on television at least four times during the 2016 regular season.
Football Team Earns FCS ADA Award For Academic Progress Rate Score
Villanova’s football team was recognized for its academic success by the Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) in an announcement made on Wednesday morning. The recognition for the Wildcats comes as a result of Villanova having the highest multiyear Academic Progress Rate (APR) score in data released by the NCAA earlier this spring.
Senior Class of 2016 Feted at Annual Reception on Eve of Graduation
Commencement exercises will take place at Villanova on Friday afternoon but first, on Thursday evening at the Connelly Center, the student-athletes in the Class of 2016 were honored for their contributions to the university in the classroom, in the community and in athletic competition over the past four years. A group of more than 150 senior student-athletes and their families celebrated a level of achievement that seems staggering when viewed as an aggregate for the class as a whole.
Villanova Announces Football Team Captains
Villanova University head football coach Andy Talley today announced the 2016 Wildcat team captains. Senior linebacker Austin Calitro (Danbury, Conn.), senior defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon (Ambler, Pa.) and senior offensive lineman Nico D’Angelo (Margate, N.J.) will serve as tri-captains for the 2016 season.
Football Team's Annual Bone Marrow Registry Drive to Take Place This Wednesday (April 13)
Villanova University head football coach Andy Talley and the Wildcat football program will host their annual “Get In The Game, Save A Life" bone marrow testing drive on Wednesday, April 13, on campus at the Connelly Center. The testing drive is open to the public (ages 18 to 44) and it will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Several Villanovans to Have a Part in Final Four Festivities in Houston
The festivities surrounding the Final Four in Houston this weekend will extend to many Villanovans beyond the student-athletes on the men's basketball team. Among the others who will be participating in events at NRG Stadium are women's basketball player Karlie Crispin and the commentating team of Scott Graham, Brian Finneran and Kacie McDonnell.
Jake Prus Named CAA Football Student-Athlete of the Year
Junior offensive lineman Jake Prus (Woodstown, N.J.) was named the CAA Football Student-Athlete of the Year and Villanova had 42 student-athletes named to the CAA Football All-Academic Team in an announcement by the conference office on Wednesday morning. This is the second straight year and the fourth time in the last nine seasons that a Wildcats student-athlete has been the Student-Athlete of the Year, while the 42 selections for Villanova to the All-Academic Team are a league-high.
Football Team to Begin Spring Practices on March 15
Preparations for the 2016 season will begin next week when the Villanova football team takes the field for the start of spring workouts. The first spring practice for the Wildcats will be on Tuesday, March 15 at Villanova Stadium. In all, Villanova will work out 15 times between March 15 and April 22 as it looks ahead to what should be an exciting fall campaign.
