A newcomer to the Villanova staff in 2012 is Ian Mitchell who will assist on the offensive side of the ball.
Mitchell comes to Villanova from Dickinson College where he was the quarterbacks coach for the last two seasons. His other responsibilities at Dickinson included recruiting Philadelphia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia, assisting the head coach in all offensive game plans, video coordination and weight room monitoring.
As a player, Mitchell was a standout quarterback at Dickinson where he was a three-time All-Centennial Conference player, a three-time team MVP and an All-American in 2009. In addition, he holds 56 school records and 17 Centennial Conference records. In 2011, Mitchell was the starting quarterback for the Frankfurt Universe of the German Football League. Mitchell led the Universe to a 9-1 record, while averaging 38.5 points per game.
Mitchell is single and resides in Villanova, Pa.
