Tanoh Kpassagnon Named CAA Football Defensive Player of the Year
Senior defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon (Ambler, Pa.) was named the CAA Football Defensive Player of the Year and was also one of nine selections from Villanova to the league’s All-Conference teams which were announced on Tuesday morning. This is the ninth time in the last eight seasons that the Wildcats have been presented with one of the CAA Football major postseason awards. Kpassagnon is just the second player in program history to earn the league’s top defensive honor.
Football Earns Playoff Berth, Hosts Saint Francis in Opening Round
The field of 24 teams for the Division I Football Championship was announced on Sunday morning and Villanova is returning to the playoffs for the sixth time in the last nine seasons. This is the 12th postseason bid overall for the Wildcats during the Andy Talley era. Villanova (8-3) will host a first round game against Saint Francis (7-4) next Saturday at 2 p.m., and the game will air live on ESPN3. The winner of the game will advance to a second round matchup at No. 8 seed South Dakota State.
Battle of the Blue Trophy Heads Back to Villanova After 41-10 Victory
Since it won last year’s annual rivalry game, No. 13 Villanova (8-3, 6-2 CAA Football) brought the Battle of the Blue trophy with it to Delaware Stadium for Saturday afternoon’s regular season finale. Following a dominant performance in their clash with the Blue Hens, the Wildcats brought the trophy right back home with them. Villanova cruised to a 41-10 victory over Delaware and won the Battle of the Blue game for the ninth time in the 10 years that the annual meeting with the Blue Hens has been billed as such.

This weekend will mark the 10th annual Battle of the Blue game as No. 13 Villanova (7-3, 5-2 CAA Football) takes on Delaware (4-6, 2-5 CAA Football) on Saturday afternoon. The game kicks off at 3:30 p.m. at Delaware Stadium and will be broadcast live on The Comcast Network in the Philadelphia area, as well as on SNY in the New York region.

After an evenly played first half, No. 9 Villanova (7-3, 5-2 CAA Football) was unable to sustain any offensive momentum and wound up on the short end of a 20-7 loss to No. 6 James Madison (9-1, 7-0 CAA Football) at Villanova Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The loss was the first at home this season for the Wildcats, who recognized their graduating class of seniors in a ceremony prior to the start of the game.
Wildcats Host No. 6 James Madison on Senior Day
It will be Senior Day at Villanova Stadium this Saturday afternoon when No. 9 Villanova (7-2, 5-1 CAA Football) hosts No. 6 James Madison (8-1, 6-0 CAA Football) in the final home game of the regular season. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m., and a pre-game ceremony to recognize the Wildcats graduating senior class will take place approximately 10 minutes prior to kickoff.
