Villanova Football Inks 13 Players on National Signing Day
It was an exciting day for the Villanova football program, as first-year head coach Mark Ferrante announced on Wednesday afternoon the commitments of 13 scholastic players to National Letters of Intent on the first day of the early signing period.
Villanova Announces 2017 Football Schedule
Five home games at Villanova Stadium and the first meeting in five years with local FBS foe Temple highlight the 2017 football schedule, presented by Independence Blue Cross, which was announced on Friday afternoon. Director of Athletics Mark Jackson and first-year head coach Mark Ferrante announced the 11-game schedule the Wildcats will play in their 124th season on the gridiron. Villanova begins the 2017 campaign with a road game at Lehigh on September 2, and will host its home opener versus Lafayette on September 16.
Austin Calitro Invited To The East-West Shrine Game
Villanova University senior linebacker Austin Calitro has accepted an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine game to be played on Saturday, Jan. 21, at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. The game will be televised live on the NFL Network.
Three Wildcats Earn All-American Honors From Hero Sports
Hero Sports announced its 2016 FCS Football All-American Team and three Wildcats were named to the first team. The trio includes senior linebacker Austin Calitro (Danbury, Conn.), senior defensive lineman Tanoh Kpassagnon (Ambler, Pa.) and junior safety Rob Rolle (Newfield, N.J.).

Villanova senior defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon (Ambler, Pa.) has been named a first team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA). He becomes the 27th player in Wildcat football history to garner first team All-American accolades.

Office of Academic Support Recognizes Student-Athletes of the Month
During a successful fall sports season both in competition and academically, the Office of Academic Support for Athletics recognized three student-athletes for their accomplishments during the season. Junior safety Rob Rolle (Newfield, N.J.) from the football team was named the Student-Athlete of the Month for September, while senior Patrick Tiernan (Toowoomba, Australia) and sophomore Bella Burda (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) from the cross country teams were also recognized. Tiernan was the Student-Athlete of the Month for October, and also shared the November award with Burda.
Trio of Wildcats Named to Academic All-Area Football Team
Junior tight end Ryan Bell (Basking Ridge, N.J.), senior defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon (Ambler, Pa.) and junior safety Rob Rolle (Newfield, N.J.) were each announced on Thursday afternoon as selections to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Football Team. The academic honor is voted on by the sports information offices at the Philadelphia area colleges and universities. This is the 10th straight year and the 11th time in the 12-year history of the Academic All-Area program that Villanova has had multiple selections to the all-area football squad.
