Villanova University head football coach Andy Talley today announced that senior quarterback John Robertson will be out indefinitely after suffering a torn posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) in last Saturday’s 28-21 win over Delaware.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Zack Bednarczyk (Wallington, N.J.) replaced an injured John Robertson (Paramus, N.J.) with less than seven minutes remaining in the game and led a pair of late scoring drives as No. 6 Villanova (2-1, 1-0 CAA Football) rallied for a 28-21 win over Delaware (1-2, 0-1 CAA Football) in front of a boisterous and near-sellout crowd of 11,779 at Villanova Stadium on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Wildcats retained possession of the Battle of the Blue Trophy for the fourth straight year and the eighth time in the nine years that the trophy has been presented.
Wildcats Face Delaware in Home and Conference Opener Saturday Afternoon
The first home game of the season will also be the conference opener for No. 6 Villanova (1-1, 0-0 CAA Football), which takes on rival Delaware (1-1, 0-0 CAA Football) in the ninth annual Battle of the Blue contest on Saturday afternoon. The game kicks off at 12:00 p.m. and will air live on Comcast SportsNet in the Philadelphia and Delaware markets, as well as on several regional networks, including SNY throughout New York.

Terrific Defensive Effort Leads Wildcats to 14-7 Win Over Fordham
A stifling defensive effort and a career night from junior running back Javon White (Telford, Pa.) led No. 6 Villanova (1-1) to a 14-7 victory over No. 16 Fordham (1-1) at a wet and rainy Jack Coffey Field on Saturday night. Steady rain played a part in preventing either team from scoring in the second half and the Wildcats limited the Rams to just 182 yards of total offense in the victory. White led Villanova offensively with a breakthrough performance of 143 rushing yards on 23 carries.
Wildcats Return to Action at No. 16 Fordham on Saturday Evening
The latest installment in a lengthy all-time series between No. 6 Villanova (0-1) and No. 16 Fordham (1-0) offers plenty of intrigue as the teams prepare to face each other for the 30th time. Saturday evening’s contest at Jack Coffey Field kicks off at 6 p.m. and can be seen live online for no charge on the Patriot League Network. This will be the second straight year that the teams meet as nationally-ranked opponents.
