VILLANOVA, Pa. - On Monday freshman guard Ryan Arcidiacono was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week for the second time this season by the conference.
In Villanova's only action last week, the Wildcats downed New Jersey Institute of Technology 70-60 as Arcidiacono led the way with 17 points, three assists and zero turnovers in 30 minutes of playing time.
Arcidiacono is second among the Wildcats in scoring at 11.5 points per game and his 32.5 minutes per outing is tops on the Villanova roster. He also averages 3.5 assists per contest and has started all 13 games for Villanova.
Back in November, Arcidiacono was named Rookie of the Week after scoring a season-high 25 points in an 80-68 victory over Marshall.
Villanova (9-4 overall, 0-0 BIG EAST) opens the BIG EAST portion of its schedule on Wednesday evening against St. John's (8-4 overall, 0-0 BIG EAST) at the Pavilion.
