VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova Wildcats will take a break from final exams on Sunday to host the University of Delaware Blue Hens at the Pavilion (4:05 p.m./ESPNU and 610 WIP).
Villanova is 6-4 overall after posting a come-from-behind 65-61 victory over Saint Joseph's on Tuesday night here. The Blue Hens are 3-7 overall heading into this contest. These two schools have faced off in each of the past two seasons with the `Cats claiming both contests.
"After the Saint Joseph's game, which was an exciting game that (Villanova) came back to win, the challenge now is to come back with that same kind of energy and focus," stated Villanova head coach Jay Wright. "We have had some good practices this week and we'll know how we have done after we play Delaware."
The Wildcats lean on a balanced attack that includes a nine-man rotation. Sophomore guard Achraf Yacoubou has given VU a major lift off the bench in its last two wins, averaging 11 points and 6.5 rebounds in 20.5 minutes per contest.
The Blue Hens are led by junior guard Devon Saddler (20.7 ppg, 4.7 rpg) and senior center Jamelle Hagins (12.8 ppg, 12.5 rpg and 23 blocked shots). Delaware has been idle since suffering a 73-67 overtime loss to Delaware State on Dec. 8.
Villanova will turn its attention back to final exams this week before resuming action next Saturday evening at Monmouth University (7:00 p.m./espn3.com).
