Aug. 25, 2010
VILLANOVA, Pa. - ESPN is bringing "College GameDay Driven by State Farm" to Villanova.
The network announced on Wednesday that the Wildcats' BIG EAST home contest against Pittsburgh on Feb. 12, 2011 will serve as the backdrop for "College GameDay". The network will air a two-hour "College GameDay Driven by State Farm" show from 10 am-noon from the Pavilion (this year the program's first hour is to be broadcast on ESPNU, the second hour on ESPN). Then, at 8:00 p.m. ESPN will again be live from the court at the Pavilion for 60 minutes ahead of the 9:00 p.m. tipoff of the "Saturday PrimeTime Presented by DirecTV" telecast between the Wildcats and Panthers.
This will mark Villanova's second appearance on "GameDay Driven by State Farm." The Wildcats made their debut on Feb. 27, 2010 at Syracuse. Pitt will be making its fourth appearance. This will also be the 13th time a BIG EAST game has been featured in this spotlight since it began airing in 2004, the most by any conference.
"We're thrilled that ESPN has decided to bring `College GameDay' to the Villanova campus for the first time," stated Villanova head coach Jay Wright. "The entire country will get to see the great support we receive from the Nova Nation and our amazing student section. All of us at Villanova are excited about this opportunity."
The complete Villanova 2010-11 men's basketball schedule will be announced in September.
