Wildcats to Face Purdue in 2K Sports Classic to Benefit Wounded Warrior Project

VILLANOVA, Pa. - ESPN has announced the pairings for the semifinal portion of the 2012 2KSports Classic benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project to be held at Madison Square Garden on Thursday, Nov. 15. Villanova will meet Purdue in one matchup and the other contest features Alabama and Oregon State. Both games will air on ESPN2.

In the first game of the semifinal doubleheader at the World's Most Famous Arena on Thursday, November 15, Alabama will take on Oregon State in a 7:00 p.m. (ET) tip. In the nightcap, Villanova will tangle with Purdue.

The semifinal round winners will meet on Friday, November 16 for the 2K Sports Classic championship on ESPN2, preceded by the consolation game at 5:00 p.m. (ET) on ESPNU.

In all, the four schools advancing to Madison Square Garden have combined for 93 trips to the NCAA Tournament.

The complete bracket for the 2012 2K Sports Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project will be announced at a later date.

There has been one previous meeting between Purdue and Villanova, in 1995 in Anaheim, Cal., where the Wildcats prevailed 67-50.Oregon State owns a 2-1 series advantage over VU while Alabama and the 'Cats have split a pair of meetings.

The entire Villanova 2012-13 schedule will be released in September.
