Villanova, Pa. - Maurice Sutton, a 6-11 product of Largo High School in Upper Marlboro, Md., has signed a national letter of intent to attend Villanova University, it was announced today. He will enroll as a freshman this fall.

"We are very fortunate to land a quality player, person and student this late in the recruiting calendar," stated Villanova head coach Jay Wright. "Maurice is a wonderful young man with incredible potential as a basketball player. He comes from a great family and played for an outstanding teacher in Lewis Howard at Largo High School."

Sutton helped Largo secure the 2008 Maryland 3A state championship with a stellar senior campaign. He averaged 18 points, 12 rebounds and nine blocked shots per outing for a squad that posted a 24-4 record.

Sutton joins Taylor King, who earlier announced he is transferring to Villanova from Duke, as a member of the Wildcats' class of 2012.
