Villanova, Pa. - Villanova head coach Steve Lappas announced today that Andreas Bloch, a 6-7 native of Germany, has signed a national letter of intent.
"We are excited about Andreas' decision to come to join us at Villanova," said Lappas. "He will provide us with a tremendous shooter with size."
A member of the German junior national team, Bloch came to the United States last August from Puttlingen, Germany. He spent this past season at Fresno (Cal.) Central High School, where he averaged 20.3 points and five rebounds per game. In addition, he connected on 45 percent of his 3-point field goal attempts.
Bloch joins guards Reggie Bryant (St. Thomas More) and Derrick Snowden (Archbishop Spalding High School), both of Baltimore, in Villanova basketball's class of 2004.
