PHILADELPHIA, Pa . - The Philadelphia Big Five honored its past and present Monday night and among those honored were no fewer than 11 current and former Wildcats.
A pair of legendary men's basketball players, guard Randy Foye and forward George raveling, were inducted into the Big Five's Hall of Fame. In their remarks, both noted the vital role Villanova played in their development as people. Foye is a 2006 graduate who just completed his 11th season in the National Basketball Association. Raveling, who played for coach Al Severance from 1956-60, went on to become a head coach at three universities before settling into a role as a Nike executive.
Also honored were Josh Hart as Big Five Player of the Year, Jay Wright as Coach of the Year and Donte DiVincenzo as Rookie of the Year. Jalen Brunson won the free throw award and was tabbed Scholar Athlete of the Year. Hart and Brunson were also named first team All-Big Five along with teammate Kris Jenkins. Sophomore Mikal Bridges was named to the All-Big Five second team.
On the women's side, three Wildcats were saluted. Junior Alex Louin was named first team All-Big Five while Adrianna Hahn was part of the second team. Freshman Kelly Jekot was the Big Five women's Rookie of the Year.
Monday night's event was held on the floor of the Palestra.
