BOSTON - Boston University will hold a press conference Wednesday (April 8) at 11 a.m. EDT at Agganis Arena to introduce Villanova associate head coach Patrick Chambers as the next men's basketball coach. He becomes the 24th head basketball coach in BU's history.

Chambers has been a part of the Villanova staff since 2004. Over the course of his tenure, the Wildcats posted a 126-45 (.737) record, made four appearances in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16, a pair of trips to the NCAA Elite Eight and in 2009 earned a trip to the Final Four for the first time since 1985.

In 2008-09, Chambers served as associate head coach as the `Cats established a new school record with 30 victories.

Chambers began his stint at Villanova when he was hired as director of basketball operations in 2004 after serving as an assistant coach at Episcopal Academy, where he worked alongside former Wildcat assistant Dan Dougherty. The graduate of Philadelphia University, who played for legendary coach Herb Magee, was promoted to an assistant coaching position at VU in 2005 following the departure of Fred Hill to Rutgers. He then spent three seasons serving in that capacity before taking the step up to associate head coach in September 2008.

The hiring of Chambers brings to five the number of former Jay Wright assistants now directing their own Division I programs. Former Wright lieutenant Tom Pecora succeeded Wright at Hofstra when the current VU head coach returned to the Main Line to assume command in 2001; Joe Jones took over at Columbia in 2003; Billy Lange was appointed head coach at Navy in 2004 and Hill became head coach at Rutgers in 2006.

The press conference introducing Chambers can be viewed live on the internet at goterriers.com.
