A day after winning the BIG EAST Tournament at Madison Square Garden for the third time in four years, the Villanova men’s basketball team drew the No. 1 Seed in the East Bracket on Selection Sunday and will face the winner of LIU Brooklyn and Radford in Pittsburgh at the PPG Paints Arena on Thursday, March 15th.
This marks the 38th appearance all-time appearance for the Wildcats in the NCAA Tournament and fourth time they have earned the No. 1 seed. Villanova was previously a No. 1 seed in the Minneapolis Region in 2006 and in the East Region in 2015 and 2017.
The Wildcats have played LIU Brooklyn once and never have seen the Radford Highlanders in program history. Villanova faced LIU Brooklyn in the NCAA Tournament in 1997 and came out with a win by a final of 101-91. LIU Brooklyn and Radford will play in Dayton, Ohio in the play-in game on Wednesday, March 13th at 6:40 P.M.
Villanova came into Selection Sunday after defeated Providence 77-66 in overtime for the BIG EAST title. The Wildcats bring a 30-4 overall record and a five game-winning streak into the NCAA Tournament.
