Foye Named to USBWA All-American First Team

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Randy Foye has been named to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association's 2005-06 Men's All-American Team. Foye has led the No. 2 Wildcats to a 24-3 record, going 14-2 in the Big East. The Newark, N.J. native has already garnered other postseason accolades including Big East Player of the Year and Defensive All-American by Collegeinsider.com.
Foye is averaging 20.2 ppg for the Wildcats which ranks him second in the conference. He is also ninth on the Villanova all-time scoring list with 1,835 career points. Foye pulls down 5.4 rebounds per game as the biggest of the four guards in the Wildcat starting lineup. With 402 career assists, he needs just six more to break into the top ten all-time for Villanova.
Foye's USBWA First Team teammates include Adam Morrison of Gonzaga, Brandon Roy from Washington and the pair of J.J. Redick and Shelden Williams of Duke. Connecticut forward Rudy Gay was the other honoree from the Big East making the second team.
The second-seeded Wildcats have a first round bye in the Big East Tournament and will play the winner of St. John's/Seton Hall on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
