"We are fortunate to have terrific representatives for each of these committees," said USA Basketball Executive Director/CEO Jim Tooley. "These are the committees that identify our coaches and players for our national teams, and we put together another collection of talented and dedicated committee members to help us continue to win gold medals."

Villanova's Curtis Sumpter, who scored 1,651 points as a Wildcat from 2002-07 and also collected 794 rebounds, is among those named.

The role of the Women's National Team Steering Committee is to review basketball matters related to the participation of the Women's National Team in the FIBA 2014 World Championship and the 2016 Olympics. The USA Basketball Women's National Team automatically qualified for the 2014 World Championship with its gold medal finish in the 2012 Olympics. The USA women will have three opportunities to qualify for the 2016 Olympics, including a World Championship gold medal finish. Should the USA not finish with the gold medal in 2014, it would have two additional chances to qualify for the Olympics: the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship and the 2016 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
