VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova senior James Bell's work in 2013-14 was recognized by the Atlanta Tipoff Club on Feb. 13 when it was announced he is among the top 30 candidates for the Men's Naismith Trophy presented by AT&T.
Bell, of Orlando, Fla., was named BIG EAST Player of the Week for the second time this season on Feb. 10. He was also tabbed as the Philadelphia Big Five Player of the Week on Monday for the third week in a row.
On Wednesday Bell again played a key role in a Wildcats' victory. He contributed 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists as Villanova posted an 87-62 triumph over DePaul to improve to 22-2 overall, 10-1 in the BIG EAST. Bell averages 16.0 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
Bell is one of three BIG EAST players on the Naismith Trophy Top 30 list, joining Bryce Cotton of Providence and Doug McDermott of Creighton.
The Naismith Trophy will be presented on April 6.
