VILLANOVA, Pa. - For the second time in as many weeks, Villanova freshman guard Ryan Arcidiacono is the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week.
The conference office in Providence announced that Arcidiacono gains the nod after his 32-point outburst in his first conference game against St. John's at the Pavilion. The native of Langhorne, Pa., sank seven 3-point field goals, one shy of the single game Wildcat record established by Allan Ray on Nov. 27, 2005 in a win over Lehigh.
The Cats upended the Red Storm 98-86, thanks to a 15-3 surge in overtime, to claim their conference opener. It was Villanova's only action of the week.
Dick Vitale also named Arcidiacono as his "Diaper Dandy" of the Week on Monday.
Villanova next prepares to meet USF on Wednesday night in Tampa, Fla. Tipoff is set for 8:00 p.m. (PHL 17/1210 WPHT).
