VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) -Dwayne Anderson scored 17 points, Corey Stokes added a career-high 16 and Villanova snapped a three-game losing streak against West Virginia with a 78-56 victory on Wednesday night. Antonio Pena had 10 points and nine rebounds, and Scottie Reynolds contributed nine points for the Wildcats, who won for the 14th straight time at The Pavilion, their on-campus arena. Villanova (16-9, 6-7 Big East), which captured its second straight win overall, is 10-0 at The Pavilion this season. Joe Alexander and Joe Mazzulla each scored 11 points, and Da?Sean Butler added 10 for the Mountaineers (18-8, 7-6), whose two-game winning streak ended. Villanova jumped out to a 25-10 lead and cruised to a 45-21 advantage at halftime. Anderson hit 5-of-6 from 3-point range and both free throws as the Wildcats surged ahead on the strength of 14-for-28 shooting from the field and 10-for-10 accuracy from the foul line. West Virginia hit just 9-of-27 shots and was 0-for-11 from 3-point range in the first half. The Mountaineers finished 21-of-59 (36 percent) and 2-of-20 on 3-pointers. Villanova was never threatened in the second half and extended its lead to a commanding 30 points, 76-46, on a basket by Casiem Drummond with 5:20 remaining. The Mountaineers struggled with their shooting and wound up with 13 turnovers, well ahead of their conference-leading 9.2 average, the fewest in the 16-team Big East.
