Villanova Wildcats

Villanova, Pa. - The Pavilion

Villanova Head Coach Jay Wright:
"That was unbelievable. The only thing that we expected tonight was the unexpected. We saw just that. I thought they looked a little weary, having just played that Penn game. I am proud of our guys, and our ability to come off a game like Miami, and play as we did tonight. We were able to respond, and do the things we are capable of doing. I was just very proud of a great team effort."

"Having been a fan of the Big-Five, and having participated in the games as an assistant, I was well aware that our lead may not last long. It wasn't until about three minutes left that I realized we had it. They can put points on the board. Marvin O'Connor has the ability to put points on the board. We were able to stop his drive, and that helped us lock in the win."

"We got jumped on down at Miami, but didn't quit the whole game. We came back in a tough game and played with a lot of heart and toughness."

St. Joseph's Head Coach Phil Martelli:
"That was just a butt kicking. There is no explaining it. There is no talking around it. I thought our preparation was good. We came yesterday and practiced. I thought we were alert. Even our walk through today was fine. We just didn't perform."

"For an older team I thought we played nervous in the beginning. Balls were all over the place. I think we had 10 turnovers at half time. I have to give credit to their defense for the way they were going to jump out and guard Marvin (O'Connor)."

"If a team shoots like that, there isn't much we can do about it."
