Villanova University Designates $22.6 Million Gift from Alumnus William B. Finneran to Advance Renovation of The Pavilion and Support the Men's Basketball Program
Villanova University President, the Rev. Peter M. Donohue, OSA, PhD, announced a $22.6 million total leadership gift from alumnus William B. Finneran '63, for the advancement of its strategic plan for a renovation of the Pavilion as well as programmatic support for its men's basketball program. This marks the largest gift ever to Villanova Athletics and propels the University forward, adding to the excitement and momentum generated from winning the 2016 National Championship.

CHAMPS! Jenkins' buzzer-beater delivers championship for Nova
He shoots. He scores. And Villanova wins. Kris Jenkins spotted up and swished a 3-pointer at the buzzer Monday night to lift Villanova to the national title with a 77-74 victory over North Carolina - one of the wildest finishes in the history of the NCAA Tournament. Villanova worked the ball to Jenkins moments after Marcus Paige hit a double-clutch 3 with 4.3 seconds left to draw the Tar Heels even. It's the first title for the Wildcats (35-5) since 1985, when Rollie Massimino coaxed them to a victory over star-studded Georgetown.

A national championship will be on the line Monday night at NRG Stadium as Villanova (34-5) and North Carolina (33-6) meet in the final game of the 2015-16 college basketball season. This will be the third time in program history that the Wildcats play in the national championship game and the first since Villanova won its only national title during a magical 1985 season.
Jay Wright Named 2016 Naismith Men's College Coach of the Year
Villanova University head coach Jay Wright was named the 2016 Naismith Men’s College Coach of the Year by the Atlanta Tipoff Club, and in doing so, joins John Calipari (University of Massachusetts 1996, University of Memphis 2008 and University of Kentucky 2015) and Mike Krzyzewski (Duke University, 1989, 1992, 1999) as the only multi-year winners of the award. Wright became the first Big East coach to win the award in 2006, and now has won two in 11 years.
