Celestand Earns Big East Player of the Week

VILLANOVA, Pa. ----- Villanova University guard John Celestand was cited as the Big East Player of the Week on Dec. 8, 1997, for his outstanding performances in Wildcat victories over Georgetown and Seton Hall. It is the first time in his career he has been named to the honor.
The Piscataway, N.J., native is sharing the honor three players averaged 17.0 points in two conference victori for their respective teams. Celestand registered 15 points versus Georgetown and a career-high 19 against Seton Hall. The junior also averaged 5.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds in the pair of wins.
Villanova (2-2 overall, 2-0 Big East) plays at No. 1-ranked Duke on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997. The game will tip off at 7:30 p.m. ET and will air nationally on ESPN-TV.
