Zaharis, Turner Join Villanova Men's Basketball Staff
VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova head men's basketball coach Steve Lappas announced today that Peter Zaharis and Marc Turner have both joined the Wildcat staff. Zaharis has been promoted to assistant coach, while Turner will assume the role of administrative assistant.
Zaharis spent the 1996-97 season as the Wildcats' administrative assistant. He is a former assistant coach at New York University during the 1995-96 season, and also served on the prep level from 1992-95 at Holy Trinity (NY) High School as an assistant. Zaharis, a 1987 graduate of NYU, replaces former Wildcat assistant Jimmy Salmon, who resigned on June 17, 1997, to pursue a college degree on a full-time basis.
Turner, a 1986 graduate of Millersville University in Lancaster, Pa., enters his first season on the Villanova staff. As administrative assistant, he will plan team travel and accomodations, and assist with film exchange in addition to other duties. A former high school coach, Turner posted a record of 70-23 at the Church Farm School in Paoli, Pa., over the last six years. He guided his squad to the league championships for four-consecutive seasons.
