VILLANOVA, Pa. - During the recent early signing period which ended on November 18, head coach Joe Godri signed six scholastic players to National Letters of Intent. The group of six recruits includes four position players and two pitchers. All six players are expected to enroll at Villanova in the fall of 2010.
"We were able to address all of our immediate needs with this signing class," Godri said. "The six players we signed during the early period are good students academically and outstanding athletes who have experience playing for some of the nation's top club teams."
In this year's early signing period, the Wildcats signed six players from six different states, including Arizona, California, Nevada, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. Godri cited the work of his assistant coaches, led by recruiting coordinator Jim Carone, in being able to expand the team's recruiting to the West Coast over the past year.
"Jim and assistant coaches Rod Johnson, Dave Miller and in the spring Chris Madonna worked very hard in bringing this class together," Godri said. "At the beginning of the year we sat down to identify our needs and develop a plan for the year. We were able to travel to some parts of the country we had not previously been to and it is unique to sign players that are all from different states."
Below are brief profiles of each of the players signed by Villanova.
