Villanova Baseball to Hold Annual Scout Day on Saturday Morning
Oct. 1, 2009
VILLANOVA, Pa. - The highlights of the fall season for the Villanova baseball team are on tap for the coming week, as the team holds its annual Scout Day this Saturday, October 3 at the Villanova Ballpark at Plymouth, followed next week by the Blue-Gray Intra-Squad World Series. First up is this weekend's Scout Day event, which gets underway at 9 a.m. All professional baseball scouts and alumni in the area are invited to join the team for a pro-style workout, live pitching and a simulated game.
Saturday morning's workout will begin with stretching and running 60's, followed by a defensive workout and batting practice on the field. The team will also play a simulated game, with certain pitchers facing five batters each. The tentative batting practice groups and pitching order are at the bottom of this release.
Villanova's annual Scout Day event allows pro scouts to formulate a plan for the spring season with regards to following potential Major League draft prospects on the team. The Wildcats have had 12 different players drafted since the arrival of head coach Joe Godri, while the team has recruited several other prospects who were drafted out of high school.
The Villanova Ballpark at Plymouth is located just 15 minutes from campus in Plymouth Meeting, Pa. Directions to the field are available by clicking here.
