Early Lead Not Enough as Wildcats Swept at Pittsburgh, 7-3
For the third straight game Villanova (13-18, 2-7 Big East) scored first with multiple runs but a pair of two-out runs in the top of the first inning was all the team could manage in a 7-2 loss to Pittsburgh (19-11, 6-3 Big East) at Charles L. Cost Field on Sunday afternoon. Junior first baseman Kevin Wager (Fairfax, Va.) drove in both runs for the Wildcats in the top of the first inning but the Panthers still went on to complete a sweep of the weekend series.

Villanova and Pittsburgh begin their three-game series on Friday night with a 6 p.m. contest at Charles L. Cost Field. This weekend marks the beginning of seven straight road games for the Wildcats to close out the 2013 season. Senior right-hander Stephen Ostapeck (Sacramento, Calif.) makes the start on Friday evening, while junior righty Pat Young (The Woodlands, Texas) and sophomore left-hander Josh Harris (Streamwood, Ill.) take the ball for the games on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
