Tuesday afternoon's scheduled baseball game between Villanova and Penn State has been cancelled due to the heavy rain that fell on Monday night and Tuesday morning. The game will not be rescheduled and the Wildcats will now get set to open a three-game series at Rutgers on Thursday afternoon.

The series between Villanova and the Nittany Lions has been a good one over the years and the Wildcats are 5-1 against Penn State under head coach Joe Godri, including five consecutive victories from the 2004 through 2009 seasons. This afternoon's cancellation marks the third straight year that the meeting between the teams has been rained out.

Later this week the series between the Wildcats and Scarlet Knights at Rutgers runs from Thursday through Saturday, with first pitch each day set for 1 p.m. Entering the final weekend of the regular season Villanova is in eighth place in the BIG EAST standings and has a one-game lead over Pittsburgh and Georgetown for the final spot in the conference tournament which begins next week.
