Box Score

TAMPA, Fla. - Host USF (24-19, 10-10 Big East) scored five runs in each of the first two innings to build a big lead and went on to a 20-4 win over Villanova (20-22, 5-12 Big East) on Saturday night at Red McEwen Field.

The Bulls scored in each of the first five innings and led 17-3 by the end of the fifth inning. After getting single runs in each of the first two innings, the Wildcats added runs in the fifth and eighth innings for their four runs.

Senior Ryan Arcadia (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) reached on a two-base error on the third baseman with one out in the top of the first and classmate Derek Shunk (Yardley, Pa.) followed with a run-scoring single up the middle for the first run of the game. Villanova's lead was short-lived however, as USF scored five runs in the bottom half of the frame.

Eleven different players combined to get 21 hits off of four Wildcat pitchers for the Bulls. Stephen Hunt was 4-for-4 with four runs scored and five RBI, while Addison Maruszak had three hits, including a pair of solo home runs.

Juniors Wesley Borden (State College, Pa.) and Kyle Carver (Aldan, Pa.) each went 2-for-3 for Villanova. In the top of the second inning, junior Joe Rosati (Havertown, Pa.) hit a leadoff double and eventually scored when classmate Joe Cotter (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) bounced into a fielder's choice to score a run.

In the fifth inning, senior Dan Terpak (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) drew a leadoff walk and right fielder James Dolbier (Lebanon, N.J.) singled home the third Wildcat run. Junior Matt McFolling (Chicago, Ill.) hit his fourth home run of the season in the eighth inning.

USF generated 11 extra-base hits and plated runs in six of their eight at-bats. Mike Consolmagno, Trey Manz and Jonathan Koscso joined Maruszak and Hunt with multi-hit games.

Sophomore Brian Streilein (Staten Island, N.Y.) started for Villanova and was charged with his fourth loss of the season, but just his second in six conference starts.

The final game of the weekend series will be on Sunday at 1 p.m.

NOTES: Terpak and Shunk extended their season-long hitting streaks to 12 and 11 games, respectively ... The two streaks are the longest by Wildcat hitters this season.
