PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. - Sunday's scheduled doubleheader between Villanova and Wagner has been cancelled due to rain and will not be rescheduled. The teams played just one contest in their three-game series this weekend, with the Wildcats claiming a 7-3 victory on Friday afternoon.
To this point in the season Villanova has had four games eliminated from its schedule due to weather-related cancellations. Earlier in the month the Wildcats cancelled a home game against U. Sciences due to field conditions as a result of snow, while a non-conference game at Lafayette in April was cancelled due to the rescheduling of the Liberty Bell Classic after rain last week. There have also been at least seven other games out of the 23 played that were either postponed or changed from their originally scheduled dates, times or locations.
Villanova returns to action at home on Tuesday afternoon to host Saint Joseph's in the first round of the Liberty Bell Classic. First pitch at the Villanova Ballpark at Plymouth is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. The winner of Tuesday's game advances to a second round matchup at either Penn or Lafayette on Tuesday, April 8.
