Boca Raton, Fla.--- Traveling to Boca Raton, Fla., on March 1, to face Lynn University, the Villanova University fell behind early and fell 11-6, despite a valiant comeback. The Wildcats fell to 1-4 with the loss, while the Fighting Knights improved to 13-5.

Scoreless into the second inning, Lynn broke out with seven runs in the second inning to take a 7-0 lead. The inning was highlighted by a two-out, two-run double by rightfielder Michael Zody. Four of the Knights seven runs in the second inning were unearned.

Down by the score of 8-0 in the sixth inning, Villanova finally got on the board on a home run by sophomore first baseman Rob Cafiero. The homer was Cafiero's first of the season. He hit 10 in his freshman campaign one season ago.ning

The Wildcats would stage a rally in the eighth inning. Behind by a 10-1 margin, Villanova broke out of its offensive doldrums. The `Cats loaded the bases on a walk, hit batter and error by Lynn second baseman James Davis. Shortstop Brendan Trainor singled in Mark Thompson with the first run of the inning. After a strikeout, freshman Chris Graziano walked in a run to make it a 10-3 game. After a Knight pitching change, leftfielder Matt Blaney hit an RBI single to score Brian Hearne. A sacrifice fly by Mike Duncan and RBI double by Mike Houser cut the lead to 10-6. Lynn reliever Jay Brandt struck out Thompson with two outs, however, to end the Villanova threat.

The Knights would score one more run in the ninth on an RBI single by designated hitter Adam Romer. The run would seal the victory for Lynn, as the Knights took the contest 11-6.

The Wildcats will play the second of two Wednesday games at 7:00 p.m., traveling to Florida Atlantic to play the No. 25 nationally ranked Owls.
